Week 14 Devo – WEDNESDAY
Have you ever heard the old cliché “actions speak louder than words”? Personally, if someone tells me they can do something, that’s fine, but I want to see them do it.
What has someone claimed they could do, but it seemed so unbelievable that you challenged them to prove it?
What is your rare talent or true story that people have a hard time believing?
Jesus was faced with this challenge constantly. However, unlike us, He was able to do what He said He could do every single time without fail.
In Mark 2, a paralyzed man dropped through the roof into Jesus’s lap. Knowing that the man’s spiritual sickness was of more importance than his physical condition, Christ decided to heal his soul first. However, the scribes within the crowd silently questioned this, “Who can forgive sins but God alone?” (v. 7).
Then, the Son of God did something that gave action to His ability to forgive sins. He showed the crowd a miracle that they could see, so they could believe in His ability to perform miracles that they couldn’t see.
What is something that God has done in your life that seems unbelievable to others?
If Jesus has forgiven you of your sins, that is an absolute miracle in itself. Salvation is a miraculous work of an all-powerful God.
Worship is more than a song; it’s trusting in the power of God.
God is truly all-powerful and one hundred percent worthy of your worship. However, it is so easy to forget how powerful our God is because life’s circumstances can seem so powerful and overwhelming.
What circumstance in your life right now seems bigger than God’s power?
One of the reasons you need prayer and Scripture reading every day is because that time with the Lord is a great reminder of who He is and how Jesus is always bigger than your circumstances.
PRAYER MOVEMENTS
Hands Up
A sign of surrender.
Spend time reflecting on how powerful your great God is. You don’t worship a weak God; you worship an all-powerful God.
Surrender to the truth of who He is today and that His power can sustain you and break the enemy.
Hands Open
A sign of emptying out.
Is there someone or something you are fearing or dreading today? Empty out by trusting in the power of the Lord who is your salvation. Let Him handle the situation that you’re dreading.
Hands Out
A sign of receiving
Ask God to remind you of His power today. Let Him know you are ready to receive the promise that He is holding you with His righteous right hand. You’re ready to receive any direction He carries you toward today.
