Week 17 Devo – TUESDAY

Covenant: God Makes a Promise

We can surely relate with Abram in his moment of doubt and frustration. We have all been there. And it’s even more challenging when we see others around us experiencing the blessings we crave.

Watching your friends make the team while you’re stuck in the stands isn’t always fun. And it isn’t fun to sit in the crowd while your friend sings or plays an instrument. Or to miss out on getting accepted to the university all your friends plan to attend. Or even having a family that just doesn’t seem normal and leaves you wanting more. Simply put: It’s so tough to wait on God when we also want to be out on the court, up on the stage, attending college with our friends, or have a better relationship with our family.

We look at what God is doing around us, and we always seem to be behind the curve. So we try to help Him. We try to step in and do what God seems to be neglecting or incapable of doing. But God is not looking for our help; He is looking for our humility. He wants us to wait on Him in faith, knowing He is good and believing in His promises.

  • In which areas of your life do you need to wait on God?
