Week 4 Devo – TUESDAY
The night before His death, Jesus prayed; but on this night, Jesus was greatly distressed about something. He knew what was going to happen: He was about to take the full punishment for all the sins of all the people in all of history before and after that moment. Even though He was on His way to suffer and die for the sins of the world, He prayed that the will of God would be done. Jesus was physically distressed over what He was about to suffer, but He gave up His life willingly to save all mankind.
How did Jesus feel this night as He left the disciples to pray (verse 33)?
Our sin separates us from God, but God loved the world so much He sent His Son to make the only way to the Father (John 14:6). Take this time to think about what it means to say that Jesus died for your sins.
God has purpose behind everything that happens. Author Max Lucado once wrote, “Jesus would rather go to hell for you than go to heaven without you.”
Why would Jesus do that for you?
