True joy doesn’t wax and wane with the daily challenges and victories that life brings. We say that faith is choosing to believe that God’s Word is true regardless of circumstances, emotions or cultural trends. In the same way, joy could be defined as believing God is good, regardless of circumstances, emotions or cultural trends.

In John 15, Jesus gives parting words before He faces the Cross. Despite the fear and questions from the disciples, Jesus is most concerned for their joy. Jesus knows that our joy is not just a happy smile but comes from knowing Him and trusting His Word. When we know who God is, we can have stronger faith that He is good, and can experience true joy.
