Joy is not an externally motivated emotion. Even more so, joy is not a state of being that comes from within us. In Galatians, Paul calls joy a Fruit of the Spirit. When the Holy Spirit lives within believers, joy can and will grow in us. Joy comes from our confidence in Christ and His faithfulness, because of the confidence we have that we cannot be snatched from God’s hand. In Christ comes an immovable hope that God is good, and He shares that goodness with us by giving us His joy.
