Week 10 Devo – MONDAY

Come, Lord Jesus

There is a repeated challenge to hold on to Jesus in the letters to Pergamum and Thyatira. He wrote to Pergamum, “You are holding on to my name and did not deny your faith in me” (v. 13). He wrote to Thyatira, “hold on to what you have until I come” (v. 25).

There were many external forces in each city that were tempting them to let go of their faith. Idolatry and sexual immorality were prevalent in their cultures, enticing them away from Christ. These had even crept into the church (vv. 14, 20). When the world tempts us toward sin, we must hold tightly to the Savior. It will take all of our might and all of His grace, but He will supply what is needed to be faithful, and it will be worth it in the end (vv. 17, 26).

How can you resist the things that try to pull you away from Jesus?
