Week 6 Devo – WEDNESDAY
Equally Yoked
As we learned in yesterday’s devo, the end goal of dating is intended to be marriage. As a biblical marriage exemplifies the Gospel, it also unites two people into one united force for the kingdom of God. This is a powerful concept!
However, in order to be one united force, it requires both people to be active participants in the kingdom! What this does not mean is church attendance, a cross necklace around a neck, or a Bible verse in a social media bio. Rather, it means that both the male and female are born again believers, and, as a result, both have the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit inside of us means that we understand the full Gospel and have received its full power! There is no way for us to be able to model a godly dating or marriage relationship without fully understanding the Gospel. God does not promise to punish us for dating someone who is an unbeliever, but rather, He protects us from entering into a relationship that will ultimately end in hurt and disagreement. Our relationships have the power to point to the Gospel!
Have you ever prayed for your future spouse’s relationship with Christ? Pause and pray for that person now.
