Week 6 Devo – FRIDAY
Nothing to Hide
If you have a basic knowledge of animals, you know that wild animals tend to stay close to their pack because they are more prone to attacks from predators when they separate themselves.
The same is true for us as Christians. While we don’t necessarily have to be beside each other all the time, we are not meant to do life alone – this is God’s design! However, we have an Enemy who wants us to be weak and vulnerable to attack; therefore, the Enemy will lure us to isolate ourselves in order to expose ourselves. This is true especially in dating relationships! In a dating relationship with another person, you will be tempted to isolate with each other; this is not God’s design! God desires us to live in the light where others are able to see us and hold us accountable. By inviting others to hold us to a higher standard of dating, we are protecting ourselves from temporary, cheap thrills and instead, pursuing a deeper, godly calling for our lives.
Do you have boundaries for dating for which you are able to be held accountable? Consider writing these down – even if you are not currently dating!
