In this passage, Jesus reveals a new understanding of what it meant to be His follower. Although He is God and our Savior, He is also our friend. When we love Christ, we love our fellow brothers and sisters. You know that you have salvation and friendship with Christ if you feel compelled in your heart to follow what He commands.

As with any friend, Jesus tells us things about Himself. He reveals His plans and purposes to us, but He doesn’t stop there. He is also faithful to be our partner on the journey for the plans that the Father ordains. We have a Savior who is constantly strengthening a friendship with us through the blessing of our lives and the progression of His kingdom.
