Week 20 Devo – WEDNESDAY

Islam

According to God’s Word, salvation comes only through Christ and His death on the Cross. Salvation comes from God for all who call upon the name of the Lord and believe in Him (Romans 10:9–10). Paul reminds us in Ephesians that we are saved by grace through faith. Islam believes that salvation is based on works. Christians are secure and confident in their salvation; in contrast, there is never a point when a Muslim can be secure or confident that he or she is going to heaven. (Given their beliefs, we know they won’t, but even within their religion, they aren’t sure they will.) In the view of Islam, it is dishonoring to have a personal relationship with Allah, whereas because of what Jesus did on the Cross, Christianity draws near to God.

How would you respond to the belief that Islam and Christianity are the same?
