If the Bible is not our authority, we can quickly find ourselves drifting from the God we claim to love. The most significant danger is allowing anyone or anything to have more authority in life than the Bible. When we look at the Catholic Church, they revere the words of the pope as the supreme authority, allowing him to add to Scripture by speaking “ex-cathedra.” This is a flaw of the Catholic Church, but before we are quick to throw stones, the challenge is to reflect on your life. Most likely, there is something that has as much, if not more, authority on your life as Scripture should.
