Week 3 Devo – FRIDAY

The Church is United in the Gospel

Have you ever wanted to be a person in the Bible? I know that may sound silly or even selfish, but I’ve always wondered what it would be like to be mentioned in the Bible, even just for one verse. But did you see what Jesus prayed in John 17:20? He prayed for you; yes, you! Jesus said, “I pray not only for these, but also for those who believe in me through their word” (John 17:20). Some translations make it even more clear by saying, “those who will believe in me” (John 17:20).

What was Jesus praying for us? He was praying that we would be united—“May they all be one” (John 17:21). If Jesus spent time praying for our unity, and the apostle John thought it was important enough to record the things that Jesus did (John 21:25), then it is important for us to prioritize. Are you divided with another Christian right now? Maybe it’s your parents, a sibling, or a friend. Try to reconcile with that person. Don’t delay; Jesus wants His followers to be one.

What actions can you take to reconcile with someone?
