Week 7 Devo – FRIDAY

How to Be a Bad Friend: Lead Them to Make Bad Decisions

Paul starts this passage by saying he isn’t perfect, but he still strives toward what God has in front of him. In his pursuit, he becomes a pattern for others to imitate, and he calls everyone to imitate him. Even though he’s not perfect, he still sets a standard. In essence, he is telling us to surround ourselves with others like him who can be examples in good conduct for us.

  • Are you a friend whom others can use as an example? Why or why not?

After verse 17, Paul tells us there are many who walk as enemies of Christ. Though they may seem as though they have their act together, they oppose God. In the long run, we should focus on and look to eternity with God in heaven. The things of this earth will pass away, including friendships, but what will remain forever is your relationship with Christ. Friends are not friends forever, contrary to the popular song.
