Week 25 Devo – FRIDAY
In this passage, we see Moses as he asks the people of God to obey the commandments they have been given. Moses promises them that if they follow the ways of God, they will be a blessed nation among all the surrounding nations. He says that their wisdom and understanding will be shown to the other nations, and those nations will look on them in that way. He also reminds the people that other countries may have “gods,” but none of them worship the real God who is intimate and personal and hears their prayers.
After you have set aside a specific time to study your Bible, you cannot begin without prayer! As Moses reminded the Israelites in Deuteronomy 4, God is near to us when we pray to Him. When you begin your time of study with prayer, ask God to speak to you. The promise is obvious in Scripture: He is near to us when we call on Him! So, ask Him to speak to you during your time of study. Ask Him to show you things you have never seen before.
