As Peter closed his letter to the persecuted Christians in Asia Minor, he urged them to stay alert. As Christians today, we need not underestimate the powers that rule in a fallen world. Peter encouraged his brothers and sisters to stand firm in their faith (1 Peter 5:9). We can stand firm against the schemes of the Enemy when we stand in Christ. In the same manner, Paul ended his letter to Ephesus by encouraging the believers to be fully prepared by remaining strong in the Lord, and not in their own strength. He tells them to put on the armor of God – a spiritual battlefield requires spiritual armor!

Standing firm does not mean that we are removed from the war, but rather strengthened to give witness to those who have not yet heard about Jesus. Pray for opportunities to share the hope of Christ with those around you today.
