Devo – Day 9
READ
Isaiah 54
Romans 5
Jesus took on the burden of scandal, punishment and shame on the Cross for us. He humbled Himself to be beaten, whipped, and killed for our sins so we could be made whole again with God. He was crushed for our sins and unjustly condemned so we can experience the joy of eternal life and experience true peace, joy and love here on earth. The perfect blood that Jesus shed on the Cross covers us, cleansing us of our sins and making us pure. The purity we receive from Jesus’ blood is what allows us to enter heaven when we accept Christ as our personal Savior. Without Jesus we would still be covered in our shame and the stain of sin. We cannot enter heaven as sinners because then we would be bringing our sins into God’s unblemished presence. If we were not cleansed and made new by the death Jesus endured for us, we could never experience eternal life free of pain, hardships and trials! The blood shed on that beautiful, scandalous night allows us to rejoice in our wonderful, eternal relationship with God. We are purified and forever washed white, living in triumph over sin and death through Jesus Christ!
How does understanding that Jesus humbled Himself to endure a brutal death impact the way you live out and share your faith?
When in your life have you experienced God’s abundant love, peace or joy? And have you told others about the goodness of God you experienced during that time?
How does the example of Jesus’ humbling Himself for others affect the way you will serve others this week?
How does knowing that Jesus’ sacrifice on the Cross gives us victory over tough times shape the way you handle hard situations?
PRAY
Pray and praise God the Son who took our sin upon Himself and gave us His righteousness.
