Week 45 Devo – WEDNESDAY
John 16:33 begins with “I have said these things…” so we must look to the verse before it to see what things were just said. John 16:32 says, “Behold, the hour is coming, indeed it has come, when you will be scattered, each to his own home, and will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone, for the Father is with me.” Jesus spoke these words to His disciples just before He was arrested and later that day, crucified. When this happened, the disciples scattered and left Him.
Have you experienced moments when you felt completely alone? Jesus knows exactly how you feel in those moments. And in verse 33, Jesus says that through His death and Resurrection, He has overcome the world. What does this mean? It means that we can take Jesus at His words: “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace.” Even when we feel alone, He understands the depths of our hearts and cares deeply for us.
