Jesus is greater than all. This passage shows that the old system has always pointed to something better still to come. The One who is better is the perfect Son of God, holy and undefiled, the High Priest forever. Where the Law could not save, He can, and does. In fact, He now sits at the right hand of the throne of God and intercedes for us.

Since Jesus is greater than all, His work produces a greater change. Before, God had written His law in stone, but through the Gospel, God writes His words on our heart and in our minds. He does more than change our behavior—Jesus changes our heart.
