Week 8 Devo – WEDNESDAY
Be diligent—lazy servants do not gain the approval of God. If we are all talk and no action, Paul said it leads to “even more godlessness” (2 Tim. 2:16), but when we serve God with diligence, we can rest in His power to make it worth it; “for God’s solid foundation stands firm” (2 Tim. 2:19). Others may oppose you or try to hinder you, but do not fear, because “The Lord knows those who are his” (2 Tim. 2:19).
But godly diligence isn’t just about effort; it’s about effort in the right direction. We should be growing in the “word of truth” (2 Tim. 2:15), fleeing “youthful passions” (2 Tim. 2:22), and pursuing love and peace (2 Tim. 2:22). When we are faithful to live for God in these ways, God will use us to help others come to Christ and “escape the trap of the devil” (2 Tim. 2:26). Are you becoming the godly leader Jesus has made you to be? Take steps today to “present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who doesn’t need to be ashamed” (2 Tim. 2:15).
Which area of your life do you need to grow in discipline and diligence?
