“I am not equipped to serve here,” is a common statement. First Peter 4:10–11 presents a rebuttal to this statement; all of us have received spiritual gifts to serve faithfully, and we do not serve out of our own strength, but through God’s strength. Through our different gifts, we are equipped to serve as a church body in any and every capacity. In Ephesians 4, Paul describes how followers of Christ are equipped – through the Holy Spirit living inside of them – for the work of ministry, obedient to Christ in our call to serve humbly in love through our spiritual gifts.
