As we read of God’s changing Abraham, we can’t lose sight of the bigger picture. We need to step back and remember God was doing something larger, and Abraham was only one small part of it. God was on a mission to redeem the world. God was working toward redeeming what Adam lost in Eden to bring us a greater future than we could ever hope for. God blessed Abraham so he might become a blessing to the world (Genesis 12:3).

When it comes to God’s working in our lives, we often focus on what He is doing, when He is doing it, and how He is doing it. But we often stop short of considering why He is doing it. We can make the mistake of turning our focus inward and thinking we are the end of His blessings in our lives. But we never are. Like Abraham, God’s plan is to bring blessing to others through His blessings to us.
