Proverbs 18:21 states, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” What a scary thing to know that your tongue has so much impact on the lives of others. Christ says that if you accept Him, He will accept you. If we deny Him before others, we will be denied by God before the angels. We also see that blaspheming the Holy Spirit will result in eternal damnation with no possibility of forgiveness. Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is rejecting the Spirit’s work in your life. Verses 11–12 talk about peace when we go and share the Gospel, and not to be anxious when brought before a hostile audience – the Holy Spirit will give us the words to say. What a great comfort to know that God will provide us with the right words to say in the moment that we need it the most.
