Do you have a favorite outfit? Maybe a hat or a pair of shoes that always make you feel confident, or helps your hair to look just right? Why do we always get excited about these favorite pieces of ours when choosing what to wear in the morning? Because they are dependable! You worry less when you realize your favorite pair of jeans is clean, knowing that at least you’re going to look your best.

In the same way, God has proven Himself to be dependable. In today’s passage of Scripture, God saves the Israelite infants from death through the faithfulness of two midwives. This is just the beginning of how a new nation will learn to trust that God is faithful.
