Our passage today in John describes the Holy Spirit in a few different terms: “Helper,” “Advocate” and “Spirit of Truth.” Jesus told His disciples that it was good for Him to leave because upon His departure, the Holy Spirit would come. And what would the Holy Spirit be to believers? All of the names listed in these verses! The Holy Spirit is our Helper, Advocate and Spirit of Truth. When we accept Christ, the Holy Spirit then lives in our hearts forever, providing conviction and correction within the life of the believer. Just as Apple or Google Maps give directions, the Holy Spirit gives us direction in our lives by being our Helper and Spirit of Truth!
