Stories

See what parents & students  have to say about Beach Camp

“As a parent, I love Beach Camp because my daughter has not only made lifelong friends and memories, but more importantly, she is challenged in her faith and encouraged to live it out boldly. Beach Camp is a worthy investment in my child’s life!”
Celeste Davis
NC HS Parent
“I love Beach Camp because it’s not only so much fun and a week on the beach, but it’s an opportunity to watch students grow in their relationship with Christ and to grow with students in discipleship. God always moves in big ways at camp, and it’s the coolest experience to be a part of. I’m thankful for the chance to serve at Beach Camp and that God allows me to watch students’ lives change firsthand.”
Taylor Richardson
NC Leader
“I love Beach Camp because it is a time to unplug and focus on your personal relationship with the Lord, surrounded by friends – by the beach! Beach Camp gave me a community of amazing people who walk alongside me! The memories made, the laughs, and the relationships formed are things I cherish so much!”
Summer Franklin
PC Leader
“Beach Camp quite literally saved my life. I have cultivated friendships and relationships with fellow leaders, as well as staff. I still talk to students from previous years and now have friendships, and get the privilege of watching them pursue the Lord! Beach Camp is a week for cultivating connection – connection with God, friends and others. You can be expectant of what the Lord will do and how you will connect with Him … while having fun, too! It’s like a ‘refresh button.’ Away from the beach, we all are rushed and bombarded with who we should be and what we should do, but at Beach Camp, we have the opportunity to see students and fully know them. We get to see generations be shaped and molded by the power of the Gospel and the work of the Cross. BEST. WEEK. EVER.”
Chloe Workman
NC Leader
“Something I love about Beach Camp is the community, especially for worship. I’m lucky to have such a great group of friends, and after spending the day at the beach, and rec, and all of the activities, just coming together with no stress from our life at home, to worship Jesus. It’s one of the best feelings in the world. It’s what I strive for every Sunday morning to feel like.”
Hannah Boyd
NC, Grade 11
“Being able to interact with God in a different way than we normally do. We see God in a different light and experience His majesty so powerfully, which really strengths our faith.”
Emerson Seal
PC JH student
“It is a time where you get away. It lets you not have to worry what people think about you or what kind of mask you have to put on. It lets you get to just chill and focus on you and Jesus and that’s it.”
Grayson Rosales
PC HS Student
“Beach Camp kind of forces people out of their comfort zone because of the change of environment. So it allows me to grow closer to my friends who come and the people I am meeting because now it’s a time that we are willing to share and be vulnerable with each other. But I would say the best time is worshipping next to my friends while we pour out our hearts to God.”
Campbell Panetti
PC HS Student
“As parents of four, we love PBC Beach Camp because our kids love the opportunity to be with friends, make new friends, be challenged in their walk with outstanding teaching, draw closer to the Lord with incredible worship – and the sun and sand of Florida are a spectacular atmosphere, too!”
Dan and Tricia Panetti
PC HS Parents
“The first thing I think of is community. Proverbs 27:17 says, “Iron sharpens iron, just as one man sharpens another” and that is why I love Beach Camp. It provides us – as busy teenagers – an opportunity to slow down (from the outside world) and gather as brothers and sisters in Christ to grow in our relationships with Him and each other. Plus, we have a lot of fun – thanks to an amazing Prestonwood Students staff!”
Rachel Pittman
PC Student
“The best thing about Beach Camp is that my kids come home on fire for the Lord!”
Rachelle Barth
NC JH Parent
“I love Beach Camp because I get an opportunity to pour into students and see them get serious about their relationship with Christ and carry it home and continue living it out in their schools and community.”
Patrick Ervin
NC Leader
“Beach Camp means the world to me because it’s when both a student and their leader can gather and both learn so much about God, His Word, and who He is. Students and leaders are given equal opportunities to reach, learn, love, and multiply using God’s Word and conversations to drive and lead each other to Jesus.”
Brant Davis
PC Leader
“There are many reasons why I love Beach camp. I have gone to camp over the years probably about 20 times with the Student Ministry at Prestonwood. While it hasn’t always been at the beach, the experience has been the same. You get a chance to get away from the normal routine and demands of life at home. You also get a chance to bond with the students in your charge. Usually, these are the students in your LifeGroup. It’s an excellent opportunity to get to know them on a deeper level than you can in 20 minutes on a Sunday. It is also a great time for a spiritual reset and recharge. Especially with the younger students, you see many of them coming to a real realization of their own faith for the first time. We can pour into the students all the time but ultimately, they have to own their faith if they’re going to stay with it when they leave. The last few years, we have had the opportunity to participate in Silent Sounds, our morning Bible study at the beach. That has to be one of my favorite parts and the best new thing that we’ve been doing. Any chance to be alone with God while admiring His creation is just awesome! I grew up in a small church and never had the opportunity to go to a camp. My first time going to camp was going to camp with Prestonwood Students as a leader. I appreciate the opportunity to experience camp.”
John Daugherty
PC Leader
“I love how you can grow closer bonds with people of the same faith and how Beach Camp allows you have to have fun while still worshipping the lord! It was a really fun experience overall!”
Brylee Boyd
NC, Grade 8
“There’s something so special about Beach Camp, and I got close to people whom I would just pass by on Sunday – and now there some of my best friends!”
Abby Barth
NC, Grade 12
“I love Beach Camp because I get to spend an entire week on the beach with my friends while growing my relationships with them and growing my relationship with my heavenly Father through worship and people intentionally pouring into me all week.”
Bennet Seal
PC HS Student
“Beach Camp has given our kids the easiest invitations to extend to friends. Who wouldn’t want to go to the beach and learn more about Jesus?! Beach Camp brings the Student Ministry together. It’s been such a great opportunity for our kids to make friends in other grades and from other life groups. Five days together forms friendships that our kids can then take back to Sunday mornings in Plano.”
Suzette Snyder
PC HS Parent
“Beach Camp is a way to have a lot of fun, but also get to worship God and hang out with other Christians your age. I love how you get to escape from the real world and go chill at the beach for a whole week.”
